Availability detection breaks when a platform changes its profile or error pages, and we do not always notice before you do. These four things let us reproduce the problem immediately instead of writing back to ask:
- 1.The exact name you searched — including capitalisation, dots, and underscores.
- 2.The platform and what we told you — for example, “it said Instagram was available”.
- 3.What you found instead — the profile URL that exists, or the error the signup form gave you.
- 4.Your country and browser — some platforms behave differently by region, which is a common cause of odd results.
A reminder worth repeating: our checks are a strong signal, not a guarantee. Reserved names, banned names, and names released from suspended accounts can all look free and still be rejected at signup. Always confirm on the platform before you commit to a name. What we can’t help with
We get these regularly and the answer is always the same, so to save you an email:
- ✕Recovering or unlocking an account. We are not affiliated with Instagram, TikTok, X, Discord, KRAFTON, or any other platform, and we have no access to their systems. Only that platform’s own support can help.
- ✕Buying a handle from another user. Selling accounts breaks the terms of nearly every platform and the account can be reclaimed after you pay. We will not broker it or put you in touch with someone who will.
- ✕Freeing up an inactive username. Some platforms recycle dormant handles on their own schedule; none of them take requests from third parties, and neither we nor anyone charging you a fee can speed it up.
- ✕Legal or trademark advice. We can tell you whether a name is free to register. Whether it is safe to use is a question for a qualified attorney.
